A 6 STEP GUIDE TO KEEP GOD AT THE CENTER AMIDST ADHD CHALLENGE

In the midst of life’s chaos, constant demands and responsibilities pulling us in different directions, finding ways to stay grounded in our faith becomes so important. Embracing practices and disciplines like mindfulness, prayer, devotional time, and journaling can help center our minds and hearts on Jesus, fostering a deeper connection and a sense of inner peace. For me, this season of busyness with working, family, house stuff and taking the kids to all their sports, not to mention becoming a certified soccer coach has made me pause and recenter my focus on what truly matters most.
BUT SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE ADDED TO YOU. MATTHEW 6:33
It’s important to remember that it’s okay to have moments of distraction or difficulty prioritizing, especially when you throw Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) into the mix – what truly matters is our intention to continually realign ourselves with what truly holds meaning and purpose in our lives. By establishing ADHD friendly routines, embracing flexibility, managing our time, keeping Jesus the focus, prioritizing self- care and seeking support we can navigate the complexities of faith and ADHD, we can cultivate a more enriching and fulfilling life.

Explore and reflect on these six transformative steps, each with the ability to redefine how you tackle each day with intention:
1. Establishing Spiritual Routines:
Creating daily routines rooted in prayer, meditation, and scripture can help anchor your day. Be mindful and consider how your ADHD brain prefers learning and processing so you can develop routines that go with your brain style, rather than figuring against it! These disciplines will serve as consistent touch points with Jesus, providing stability and the reminder of God’s presence and promises amidst life’s chaos.
2. Intentional Time Management and Minimize Distractions:
For individuals with ADHD, time management can be a perpetual struggle, right?! I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that twice. Distractions are all around us just waiting to pull our attention in many directions. Incorporating tools such as alarms, timers and reminders are a great way to structure your day effectively and can support you on staying focused. Allocating specific time slots for work, personal growth, creativity, devotional time and prayer can ensure a balanced in our day.
3. Embracing Flexibility with “TONS” of Grace:
Living with ADHD means embracing flexibility and understanding that the best made plans may need adjustments here and there. Allow yourself grace and acceptance during challenging moments when your “plan” doesn’t work out and remember that your spiritual journey is a relationship with Jesus, not a rigid set of rules.
4. Integrating Jesus Into All That You Do:
Rather than compartmentalizing faith, family, relationships and work, consider that Jesus is integrated into them seamlessly. Consider this an invitation to approach all your responsibilities and interactions as opportunities to live out your faith, incorporating values like integrity, kindness, love, compassion and diligence into all that you do.
FINALLY, BROTHERS, WHATEVER IS TRUE, WHATEVER IS HONOURABLE, WHATEVER IS JUST, WHATEVER IS PURE, WHATEVER IS LOVELY, WHATEVER IS COMMENDABLE, IF THERE IS ANY EXCELLENCE, IF THERE IS ANYTHING WORTHY OF PRAISEM THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS. PHILIPPIANS 4:8
5. Prioritizing Self-Care:
Navigating life with ADHD requires a thoughtful and tailored approach to self-care! Prioritizing self-care, as hard as it can be sometimes for individuals with ADHD it has shown to build resilience and enhance the overall quality of life which can lead to better results in navigating the demands of this fast paced society. ADHD can sometimes lead to burnout, making self-care a crucial consideration when planning and preparing for your day. Ensuring you allow time for rest, activities, and things that rejuvenate your mind and spirit.
6.Seeking Professional Support When Needed:
Consider seeking guidance from professionals who specialize in ADHD management. Trained ADHD Life Coaches can support people in developing tailored strategies to enhance focus and navigate challenges, contributing to a more harmonious integration of faith and daily life
